July Update

Friends,

It's been quite an experience putting this book together, so I'd like to give you all an update and a rough outline for the future.

-The book has been written. This was my biggest personal milestone. There's no going back from here - it's going to be released one way or another, which is quite exciting to me.

-The first full revision has also been completed. It currently sits at a bit over 93,500 words, which is a bit longer than my 62,000-word goal, so there's a hearty chunk I'm keen on snipping out.

-I sent out this very, very premature version of the book to my parents so they could give me a bit of insight on what they think before I revise it again. Think of them as getting a "Closed Alpha" version of the novel, as I nicknamed it.

-As soon as I can get some feedback on this "Closed Alpha" variant, I'll revise it again, and possibly release a "Beta" version of the book to a few of you.

-After I hear back from that, I'll revise it one last time, and then should be released from there! I am not sure exactly how long it will take for my parents and the others to read it, but I would tentatively guess that it should be launched in the next few months.

Thank you to everybody for the support! I've had a grand time putting this all together, and I have faith you'll enjoy the book after it's out. In the meantime, I'll keep releasing quotes through our Instagram and Facebook pages. Stay tuned!

The First Three Chapters

Here's an update for 2020. My goal last year was to release this book, and while I sent it out to about 20 publishers, I also took up postgraduate schooling that was extremely demanding for somebody with no prior technical degree, so my attention was drawn away from being able to entirely dedicate myself to this project. I'm looking to change that this year, so I'd like to share the first three chapters (plus an updated prologue). It's a hearty amount to put online, but it's what I send to publishers when I pitch my book, so I'm completely alright with sharing this with anyone and everyone. I began this project because of an experience that I could relate through these soldiers and their stories paired with a newfound fondness for writing, so it's a very personal piece for me. First Draft Finished

Hello, everybody! As the title suggests, I have recently completed quite possible the biggest milestone of writing this book, which is quite exciting! This means I will begin revising it in preparation for its release. To celebrate, I've decided to re-release my freshly proofread copy of the prologue, which can be read  here . It's neither terribly new nor fully complete, but I tried to consolidate it a bit in order to make it easier to understand. Also, in the next coming weeks, I will be releasing tiny bits of the book via some quotes. Hopefully, it will help you get an understanding of who the characters are, what they're about, and what's going on around them. I'm pumped to start doing this, as it signalises that it is time to switch efforts from just writing this book into creating hype! Past The Word-Count Goal!

Dear fans, As many of you may know, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque is a key influence to my book. Being as much of an inspiration as it was, I set its word count as my goal, as 61,922 words. I am delighted to announce that I had recently made it past my goal for the word count! There are only a few more chapters left, and I expect to finish the first draft of this book this week! To celebrate, when the book is finished, I will start extracting quotes from parts of the book I think are neat, and sharing them with all of you.
