Author's Battlefield Guide

From the very start,   Battlefield   has always had a very firm influence on this book. I've always been impressed with the depth of detail the developers used in creating the characters' equipment, weapons, and stories. Today, I wrote a guide as a Scout, which played a key part in inspiring me to write this book and even to some extent for providing a "battlefield", if you will, to test out some of the training I picked up on as research. Take a look at it here .

July Update

Friends, It's been quite an experience putting this book together, so I'd like to give you all an update and a rough outline for the future. -The book has been written. This was my biggest personal milestone. There's no going back from here - it's going to be released one way or another, which is quite exciting to me. -The first full revision has also been completed. It currently sits at a bit over 93,500 words, which is a bit longer than my 62,000-word goal, so there's a hearty chunk I'm keen on snipping out. -I sent out this very, very premature version of the book to my parents so they could give me a bit of insight on what they think before I revise it again. Think of them as getting a "Closed Alpha" version of the novel, as I nicknamed it. -As soon as I can get some feedback on this "Closed Alpha" variant, I'll revise it again, and possibly release a "Beta" version of the book to a few of you. -After ...

First Draft Finished

Hello, everybody! As the title suggests, I have recently completed quite possible the biggest milestone of writing this book, which is quite exciting! This means I will begin revising it in preparation for its release. To celebrate, I've decided to re-release my freshly proofread copy of the prologue, which can be read  here . It's neither terribly new nor fully complete, but I tried to consolidate it a bit in order to make it easier to understand. Also, in the next coming weeks, I will be releasing tiny bits of the book via some quotes. Hopefully, it will help you get an understanding of who the characters are, what they're about, and what's going on around them. I'm pumped to start doing this, as it signalises that it is time to switch efforts from just writing this book into creating hype! All in all, I hope you all enjoy the book, and if you're even half as excited as I am about it, I'm sure you'll like it. Thanks for the support so far, everyo...

Past The Word-Count Goal!

Dear fans, As many of you may know, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque is a key influence to my book. Being as much of an inspiration as it was, I set its word count as my goal, as 61,922 words. I am delighted to announce that I had recently made it past my goal for the word count! There are only a few more chapters left, and I expect to finish the first draft of this book this week! To celebrate, when the book is finished, I will start extracting quotes from parts of the book I think are neat, and sharing them with all of you. Shout-out to all of you for the support, particularly to my mom for consistently finding a way to call me during the most intense moments for writing. Stay tuned! -Benjamin

Thanks for coming to my website!

This page is where I plan to post updates as the book comes nearer to being ready for release. Stay tuned!

Prologue: It Was Them, or Us

Prologue: It Was Them, or Us Unterfeldwebel Rupert Schmidt Crack! The bullet sliced through the air as it left my rifle. After a split second, I saw poor Ivan flinch as his peace was disrupted by the rude interjection of my lead. The rifle dropped from his hands as he slumped over, no longer an active player in this skirmish. Instinctively, I promptly got ready for whatever next shot that will await me by tugging back the bolt handle on my rifle as the empty shell spewed out of her right side. It was my favourite piece of consolation after taking such a gruesome shot – the expended shell brushes against the metal receiver of my Karabiner 98k to make that familiar noise metals tend to make when touching. It’s reassuring to break the trend of exclusively worrying about what was often several hundreds of meters surrounding me to reach forward within my personal space and tend to my rifle for even just a moment. Pulling that bolt handle back has always been a wordless avenue for my rifle a...
